Reflective Practice: Two Sides of the Same Experience

There is a need for teachers to open the door to new realms of possibility in the classroom. There is a need to deepen the understanding of what goes on during lessons as a way forward in professional development. This shared experience reveals what Reflective Practice has in store for educators – a tool which is data-based, collaborative, concrete and conversational rather than theoretical, individual, abstractand written (Walsh and Mann, 2015). It takes full attention, a thinking environment, a self-chosen focus and aiming to understand rather than to solve a problem.Teachers more than ever want to make sense of their experience by engaging in research which is small-scale, shared and significant. They need tools which inspire their work and their learners’ to enable them to meet other voices in the educational community.
